Billing & refund policy

How trials, renewals, plan sizing, cancellations, and refunds work.

Last updated: October 29, 2026

This policy is part of our Terms & Conditions. If you have a question about a charge, email us at support@taxomate.com before you contact your bank. We answer billing requests within one business day, and we can usually fix the problem the same day.

Summary

  • Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. You need a payment card to start it.
  • If you do not cancel before the trial ends, we charge your card for your plan, and your plan renews each month or year until you cancel.
  • Until December 31, 2026, if you sell more than your plan allows, we upgrade you to the next plan automatically. From January 1, 2027, your imports keep running, and we size your plan at each renewal to your 3-month average, up or down. You can turn this off.
  • You can cancel at any time in Settings > Billing. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and we do not charge you again.
  • If you ask within 7 days of your first charge, we refund that charge in full.

1. Free trial

Each new customer gets one 14-day free trial. To start it, you choose a plan and add a payment card. We do not charge you during the trial.

When the trial ends, we charge your card the price of the plan and billing period that you chose. To avoid this charge, cancel at any time before the trial ends. The date your trial ends is shown in Settings > Billing.

2. Plans and automatic renewal

Plans are billed monthly or annually, in advance, in US dollars. Current prices are on our pricing page. Prices do not include any taxes that apply to you.

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period. We charge the card on file on the renewal date until you cancel. If a payment fails, we may pause syncing until the payment succeeds.

3. Order limits and automatic plan sizing

Each plan includes a monthly order limit. Your allowance resets on the 1st day of each calendar month (UTC). We count orders from the payouts and settlements that Taxomate imports for you.

Until December 31, 2026. Automatic upgrades are on by default. If your imported orders go over your plan's limit, we move you to the next plan with the same billing period and email you. Stripe prorates the price difference for the rest of your billing period, and that amount appears on your next invoice. We do not downgrade plans automatically. If you turn off automatic upgrades in Settings > Billing and reach your limit, imports above your limit may stop until your allowance resets or you change your plan.

From January 1, 2027. We count every order in each new payout or settlement, including orders from the previous month when a payout crosses a month end. Payouts from before the previous month, such as a history import, do not count.

If you import more orders than your plan includes, your imports continue. We email you when you have used 80% of your plan and when you go over it, at most once each per month.

Automatic plan sizing is on by default. Between 3 and 7 days before each renewal, we take your average order count for the last 3 complete calendar months. If the average is above your plan's limit, your plan moves to the smallest plan with the same billing period that covers it. If the average is at most 80% of the limit of the next smaller plan, and your last complete month also fits that plan, your plan moves down one plan. We email you before any change. The change applies at the renewal, with no proration. To keep your plan, choose it in Settings > Billing before the renewal, or turn off automatic plan sizing. The first changes apply at renewals on or after February 1, 2027.

We do not change a plan that has fewer than 3 complete months of orders, a plan that is set to cancel, or a plan billed through Shopify. A plan on a price from before December 2026 gets emails only until it moves to a current price.

If automatic plan sizing is off, your plan does not change by itself. We email you when your average is above your plan, and when a smaller plan fits. If your average is above your plan at 2 renewals in a row, Amazon imports pause each month when you reach your limit, from the 1st of the month after the second renewal, until you change your plan or turn sizing on. We email you before a pause starts.

If a one-time spike caused a plan change, email us. We will review it.

4. Price changes

We will email the account owner at least 30 days before a price change applies to your subscription. The new price applies from your first renewal after that notice. You can cancel before then.

5. Cancellation

An account admin can cancel at any time in Settings > Billing. You do not need to contact us. You can also email support@taxomate.com, and we will cancel for you.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not charge you again. Until that date, Taxomate keeps importing and syncing your data as usual. The billing page shows the date your subscription ends. If you change your mind before then, choose a plan again in Settings > Billing and your subscription continues.

If you cancel during your free trial, your subscription ends when the trial ends and you are not charged.

After your subscription ends, Taxomate stops importing and syncing new data. Entries that Taxomate already posted to QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Wave stay in your accounting software.

Because you keep access for the period you paid for, we do not refund the unused part of a monthly or annual period, except as described in section 6. We do not change your plan size after you cancel.

Closing your account is different from cancelling. When you close your account, we cancel your subscription, disconnect your integrations, and permanently delete your Taxomate data. You cannot undo this.

6. Refunds

7-day refund on your first charge. If you are not happy with Taxomate, email support@taxomate.com within 7 days of your first paid charge. We will refund that charge in full and end your subscription immediately. Your first paid charge is usually the charge on the day your free trial ends. This applies to monthly and annual plans.

This refund applies once for each customer. It does not apply to renewals or to later charges, including charges after an automatic plan change, except where section 3 or the rest of this section says otherwise.

Billing errors. If we charged you by mistake, for example a duplicate charge, we will refund the incorrect amount in full. Tell us within 60 days of the charge.

Refunds go back to the original payment method. Your bank may take 5 to 10 business days to show the refund.

If local law gives you more rights than this policy, those rights apply.

7. Billing through the Shopify App Store

If you subscribe through the Shopify App Store, Shopify bills you and your charges appear on your Shopify invoice. The refund terms in this policy still apply. Email us, and we will issue any refund through Shopify.

8. Questions and disputed charges

If you do not recognize a charge from Taxomate or think it is wrong, email support@taxomate.com with your account email address and the date and amount of the charge. Please contact us before you open a dispute with your bank. That is the fastest way to get a refund that you are owed.

If you open a payment dispute, we may pause your account until the dispute is resolved. We will send your bank our records of the subscription, including this policy, your plan, and your account activity.
