How this Etsy calculator works

The estimate uses Etsy’s current US rates for a single listing and an order paid through Etsy Payments. The transaction fee is 6.5% of the item price, shipping charged, and gift wrap charged. It excludes US sales tax. US payment processing is 3% plus $0.25 on the payment total, including sales tax. The listing fee is $0.20.

Offsite Ads charge only when Etsy attributes an order to an ad click. Etsy says attribution can apply when a buyer clicks an Offsite Ad and buys from your shop within 30 days. The fee rate is 15% if your shop has always made less than $10,000 USD in any consecutive 365-day period. In that case, you can opt out. If your shop has reached $10,000 USD in any consecutive 365-day period, the rate is 12% and participation is required for the lifetime of your shop. The fee is capped at $100 per order. Choose “No fee” when there is no attributed ad order or when your shop is eligible and opted out. Etsy Ads as the buyer’s last click before purchase can mean only the Etsy Ads fee applies. See Etsy’s Offsite Ads rules for details.

Contribution profit subtracts estimated Etsy fees, product or material cost, your actual shipping cost, and other costs you enter. It does not include labor, subscriptions, income tax, refunds, currency conversion, regulatory operating fees, or other possible charges. It is not net accounting profit or a guaranteed payout.

The break-even price is the lowest item price at which the modeled order covers the costs you entered. It holds the sales tax amount, shipping charged, gift wrap, and other costs constant as the item price changes. Your actual sales tax may change with the price.

Worked example

With a $50 item, $5 shipping charge, $4.40 sales tax, $12 product cost, $5 shipping cost, and $2 other costs, the estimated listing, transaction, and payment fees total $5.81. The estimated proceeds after fees, excluding sales tax, are $49.19. Contribution profit is $30.19 before labor and other excluded costs.
